Tarred & Feathered’s: Weekly Playlist

Your guide to the new tracks getting 2017 kicking off in the best way.

Baba Stiltz – Baby

Baba Stiltz teases his forthcoming Is Everything EP with new cut “Baby”. It’s an ice-cold collision of techno soul and R&B and a detached vocal that is simultaneously intimate and distant. Is Everything is released by Studio Bauhaus, the reliably brilliant label run by Axel Boman & Kornel Kovacs.

Jenny Hval – The Great Undressing

Jenny Hval has shared the beautiful Marie Kristiansen-directed visuals for “The Great Undressing” which appeared on her uncompromisingly wonderful album Blood Bitch. Probing our attitude towards nudity, Kristiansen explores whether nakedness is sexualised when it goes unacknowledged. Hval is set to embark on a world tour included a date in London at Rich Mix on 28 February.

Snakehips, MØ – Don’t Leave

Snakehips and MØ join forces on new track “Don’t Leave”. With both acts enjoying monstrously good 2016s, the collaboration is another reminder as to why the pop world won’t shut up about these artists. MØ is working on her second album which is due to be released later this year.

Tyni – Fighter

One to keep an eye/ear on is Sheffield native Tyni. “Fighter”, which is a glitchy gem, is the first track to be released from her debut EP. Tyni has been hard at work on her record with all the right people including; Wayne Wilkins (Beyoncé), MNEK and Sophie. It’s time to get excited about Tyni.

RAY BLK – Patience (Freestyle)

RAY BLK celebrated winning the BBC’s Sound Of 2017 by dropping new track “Patience (Freestyle)”. Recorded in Los Angeles, the track showcases RAY’s unique flow and celebrates her status as a truly independent artist. RAY BLK plays Village Underground on 27 February.
