Review: At the Drive In E.P Diamante

Having heard the emo saviours of my youth At the Drive In had returned after almost a decade’s break on our waters with a string of U.K dates, and a new E.P. in their armoury – Diamante, exclusively for Record Store Black Friday… I found it hard not to jump up and down with gleeful arrested development.

Therefore not being biased at all, I was pleased with there latest offering released last week… if not a little too comfortable in my seat. Their massive dancefloor filler track ‘One Armed Scissor’ released back in 2006, once got me kicked in the head for moshing too hard – yes I’m showing my age, and yes that proves dedication. It definitely follows in the same vein, but lacking in the virile blood of its angst predecessor. Judge their new slightly more modern and innovative sound for yourself below, with their latest album released in May – in•ter a•li•a available to stream below, and catch them on their first U.K. tour of the U.K. at the start in March. Support comes from Death From Above and Le Butcherettes.
